February Favourites🌹: hair edition

Hey guys… I know that I’ve been kind of M.I.A for the past 2+ weeks, this has been due to the weather lately: it has been rainy and I wanted to share my hair straightening technique with you but you know moisture/humidity & natural hair (straightened don’t mix). I still would like to share that with you but until the weather gets its act together I’ve decided to share my ultimate favourite hair products with you… Let’s get to it!!

  1. Aunt Jackie’s – curl mane-tenance
    This is my ultimate favourite hair product… I use it everyday for everything from daily moisturizing to when I do a twist-out or a braid-out. This product: apart from smelling amazing, keeps your hair moisturized and can be used to enhance your curls. It’s an 11 out of 10 for me 😀
       Available at Clicks
  2. Mixed Chicks : shampoo
    I love this product because: 1. It is made for my hair. 2. It smells amazing. 3. It does its job and leaves my hair feeling soft and clean. What more do you want from a shampoo.
  3. L’Oréal Elvive: conditioner
    Ok I’m constantly switching up my conditioner but this has always been my favourite. I use it twice a week and sometimes for my deep conditioning. It lasts long and smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling amazing.
        Available at any supermarket or pharmacy
  4. Mixed Chicks: deep conditioner
    This product locks in the moisture, makes my curls & hair feel and look amazing and smells great. What more should a deep conditioner do.

    These are my ultimate favourite hair products at the moment, I hope that I’ve inspired some of your to go out and try them for yourselves.

    Pink-neutral makeup look

    So I drew some eyes and put the makeup look on them ( yes I used real makeup in my sketchbook ), because I have the flu and my eyes are puffy. I promise that the next makeup look that I do will be seen on me xxx
    Hey guys

    So today I’m going to share a simple pink-brown makeup look {as seen in the drawing above}

    Tools & products:

    Beauty Treats essential makeup palette

    The colours used (1 & 3 in the crease) (2 &3 used on the lid)

    MAC black tied velvet eyeshadow( used as liner)

    Bobbi Brown sweep brush
    Bobbi Brown blender brush

    Bobbi Brown ultra precise eye liner brush

    Method:

    1. I use my primer or concealer to prime my eyelids
    2. I mix number 1 & 3 from my palette and put this in my crease ( occasionally add a warmer brown or gold )
    3. Use my concealer on my lids tho create the “cut crease” look.
    4. Mix colours 2 & 3 and put this on my lid ( if I want a more pink look I mix colour 1 in sometimes I add a golden colour)
    5. Liner liner liner
    6. Done.

        Green Tea Exfoliator

        Hey guys!!

        I’m constantly in search of the perfect exfoliator, I could never find one that worked for me. One day while I was scrolling through Pinterest {my Pinterest is tagged in the sidebar} I came across this fabulous green tea exfoliator. I’ve only used it for about 2 months and I’m already in love with it, I’ve tweeked the recipe to make it my own, so here it is…

        Ingredients

        * 1 TB dried green tea leaves (2-4 tea bags, depending on size of tea bag)

        * 1 cup white or brown sugar (the sugar should be soft, not large granules)

        * 1/2 cup olive oil (100% olive oil, not an oil “blend”)

        * 2 TB raw honey

        * (optional) skin-friendly essential oil

        Instructions

        1. In a medium-size bowl, combine all the ingredients. Store the exfoliator in an air-tight container in a cool, dark place (the linen closet or medicine cabinet).

        To Use: Apply a tablespoon of exfoliator at a time to your hands. Gently massage the skin (face and/or body) with the exfoliator for 30 seconds. Rinse the exfoliator from the skin with water and a washcloth.

        This exfoliator works wonders, it’s definitely one of my best Pinterest finds. I hope that some of you try it and share your opinions about it with me, also feel free to share your favourite exfoliators with me xox Suraya

        Highlights of 2016

        Hey guys, as the year is coming to close I’ve decided to re-cap on a few of my highlights of this year. 2016 has been a pretty eventful year for me I mean I, restarted/launched my blog, basically finished high school & visited the country my father grew up, just to name a few things. Let’s get straight to my favourite moments.

        1. Prom with my friends
        I mean it was amazing to get to dress up & see my friends transform. We laughed, danced, made noise during speeches. I mean we were basically the highlight of Prom.

        2. Freaky Friday

        Freaky Friday is a tradition at my school, it marks the end of the form 5s ( seniors ) life as students at our school. It’s basically your last moment of fun before the month of exams. Basically the “seniors” can do anything they want to the other students and sometimes even the teachers.

        3. Visiting Sudan
        If you saw my last post { https://thepyramidjournal.wordpress.com/2016/12/18/travel-post-sudanethiopia/ } you’ll know all about this trip, but to sum it up it was an amazing experience to see the country that my dad grew up in & the country I’m from. I’m definitely going back soon.

        4. Relaunching my blog and my business deals
        I got the pleasure of collaborating with a watch brand that I’ve admired for years, Barbas & Zacari. My code is still valid until the 31st of December. Use the code “SURAYADEREIGE” to get 15% off and free shipping, head to barbasandzacari.com

        5. Family time

        I guess this one speaks for itself, 2016 was filled with amazing family moments.

        Those are my top 5 highlights of 2016, here’s to an amazing and eventful 2017. Happy New Year everyone xox Suraya

        1. The look

        I designed my dress myself, it was brought to life by a good friend/ fashion designer Mothusi Lesolle from @izauracreations.  My goal was to look and feel like an African queen, which I did & judging from the response on my social media it was achieved.
